Chaweng Beach is easily the most popular area on Koh Samui for its endless sandy beach, colourful vibrancy, and at night, a lively entertainment area full of clubs and bars, as well as a choice of some of the finest restaurants on the island. The Green Mango and Reggae Pub dominate the club scene, 2 clubs so famous that they have an entire street named after them, streets that are transformed into a frenzy during festivals and sporting occasions. Poppies restaurant, Betelnut and Bellini all vie for attention on the fine dining scene.
The quieter towns of Bophut, Maenam and Lamai allow for a more peaceful villa holiday, with some fantastic views, walking streets and again, outstanding restaurants. Zazen in Bophut is one of the most romantic dining experiences you’ll find anywhere on he island, while over in Lamai you can expect to enjoy a reasonable amount of hedonism after dark, but always at an acceptable distance from your accommodation.
Further afield, the neighboring island of Koh Phangan is famous around the world for its monthly full moon party– a heavy dose of beach partying bringing together revelers from across the globe. For the rest of the month, the island is quiet, relaxed, and a perfect escape. Koh Tao, is also within easy reach, again world renowned, in this case as SCUBA Diving location.
